A young woman (could be a teenager, could be a young adult) has a huge love for dating sims. She’s a huge believer in the 2D world being better than the 3D world and uses her hyperfixation with the games to escape the loneliness she feels in real life. One day, she is selected by a magical being to play through the “routes” of six of her peers. By doing so, she weakens the enemy of the magical being and frees male leads from their power. Once she gains their affection and completes each of their routes, reality resets and she is free to move on to the next guy.

The heroine treats her task like a game and using her vast knowledge of dating sims, makes the choices that causes the guys to fall in love with her. She has some chance interactions with them after completing their routes but ignores them because she doesn’t see them as actual people.

However, the final guy is someone from her past. She tries to treat him like just another dating sim character, he proves impossible to predict and feelings hard to gauge. While pursuing him, the heroine breaks down as she is forced to acknowledge her own shortcomings and face her own reality. The enemy takes advantage of her weakness and possesses her. The final male lead then rallies the friends the heroine made to save her
