What I Learned from reading Easy Beauty A Memoir by Chloe Cooper Jones
- Having a disability does not make someone less of a person. People who are disabled, whether from birth or through illness/accident, still deserve respect as individual people and desire autonomy just like individual people.
- People who are disabled are not just disabled. Their disability isn’t their entire identity. They are people with many different aspects that play into who they are.
- You do not have to take everything people try to give you. When people give you their anger, fear, anxiety, or disgust, you do not have to internalize it and make it yours. It is theirs.
- Love isn’t about your significant other being a perfect person or even them always doing what you want them to do. A lot of the time, love is about being patient with the one you love.
