What I Learned: Animal Farm

What I Learned from reading Animal Farm by George Orwell:

  1. The education and literacy of the common people is crucial for the maintenance of a governing system that is fair to the populace. It gives them the capability to think critically about the decisions being made on their behalf and provides the vocabulary to advocate for themselves.
  2. It is important that historical records and documents are created and preserved. All updates and alterations should be noted. The passing down of knowledge and knowing one’s history is very, very important.
  3. Ideas of freedom and equality take work to be maintained as they can easily be eroded over time when parties attempt to seize power.
