Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everybody! I hope you’re having a positively spooky Halloween with lots of movies, costumes, and treats!

I don’t really celebrate Halloween because my parents never let me grow up for religious reasons. I did participate in some Halloween events while in college, partly because a lot of my Christian friends did celebrate the holiday and my parents weren’t around to stop me. However, now that I’m back living at home, it’s probably not going to be a thing for this coconut.

Personally, I’m still on the fence as to whether I should or shouldn’t celebrate Halloween. I think it’s important for me to figure out how I feel about it now while I’m a single adult as it will affect how I raise my kids when I get married and have them. However, I realize that my relationship with the holiday isn’t really based on the actual facts of the holiday, its origins, and how it has been used in culture and I should use that information to determine whether it’s “satanic” like my parents believe.

While I was trying to figure out something special to do for today, I had actually considered doing some research and writing an article about Halloween. Other things I thought about were writing a short horror story or a Halloween special for “From Monochrome to Vibrancy”. Sadly, none of those ideas really panned out. I don’t have anything scary or “Halloweeny” for you guys today.

My life got really busy this October. A lot of changes….a lot of disappointments, some of which I’ll still be dealing with in November.

…….Hey. I think I do have something scary for you guys: Finding out the job you were hoping for was too good to be true and all the work and care you put into it was for nothing. It was a scam.

Horrifying right?

…..Protip for anyone looking for a job: Always verify that the person contacting you “on behalf of the company” is who they say they are.

Happy Halloween, from Ms. Coconut.
