Concept: A mother and son are transported into another world by a scientist along with many other families after a catastrophic, world-ending event occurred. Now in the computer-generated fantasy world, the son desires to become a hero. The mother, worried about him and seeking to rebuild their broken relationship becomes a warrior as well. The story is about the estranged mother and son struggling to rebuild their relationship and the mother rediscovering her own desires and interests after giving them up to provide for her son.

Beginning Scene: It’s an average day. The story hones in on a mother and a son. The two are eating together in silence. The son is avoiding eye contact by reading a paper on the table. She talks about how she finally has a day off and if he would like to go out and do something. He says no, he’s busy without looking at her. She looks sad but says okay, another time and gets up to clean her dishes. As she stands by the window, there’s suddenly a flash of light and loud screeching sound from outside. Both she and her son look outside but in a moment, they suddenly blip out of existence. This is before the room is enveloped light and seemingly ripped to shreds.

Inspired by “Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?” manga/anime, which I cannot recommend because this idea came to be because of the anime’s wasted potential. Honestly, the concept of parents and children being taken into an MMO fantasy world in order to improve their bond has SO MUCH storytelling potential that that anime refused to take advantage of!
