Quotes from “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

So, I’ve recently read “The Little Prince”(or Le Petite Prince in the original French) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a children’s book written back during World War 2. What prompted me to read it was a character in a game I play whose design is based on the titular prince. In all honesty, the book is a bit bizarre but I rather liked it. I had never heard of the book when I was younger, but if I had, I would have found the ending a bit disconcerting. Reading it as an adult made me reflect on how trivial some of the things I am meant to see of the highest importance as an adult are. I do find the ending sad but in the right way. These are just some quotes from the story that stood out to me. I might make another post about the story.

“It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom.”(32)

“Grown-ups are certainly very strange.”

“Grown-ups are certainly quite extraordinary” (40)

“To kings, all men are subjects. To vain men, other people are admirers.”

“Grown-ups are certainly very strange.”

“Grown-ups are certainly quite extraordinary” (40)

Vain men never hear anything but praise (34)

“One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.”(63)

“It’s the time you spent on your rose that makes your rose so important.” (64)
