Of Shades and Primaries: Black

A collection of poems I made back when I had a fixation on colors and the personalities and meanings associated with them

Black

I’m one of the Shades

The Primaries and Secondaries? Please, I’m in no mood for their charades.

I have no time for this, if you have business with me then cut to the chase

Please keep your distance, I do love my space

There’s nothing wrong with me liking to be by myself

I simply find it stupid to deal with others and inconvenience yourself

Do you find me cold?

That’s fine. At least it makes me different from you, a sheep in a fold.

You’re uncomfortable? Are you intimidated by me?

That’s okay. You lack elegance and sophistication. Conversing with you is not my cup of tea

Ah, I see you’ve finally got yourself some backbone

I’m in no mood for submission. You can’t handle me alone

…I guess I’ll throw the dog a bone, I’m the keeper of secrets

That’s right. I know all of your frets.

I am associated with death and its misery

I’m depressing and pessimistic and generally full of negativity

They say I’m too serious

But why wouldn’t I be with outcomes so hideous

The coal that burns and the storm clouds that make thunder crack

Good evening, I am BLACK
